Months after he was arrested on weapons charges in his native Ohio, cornerback Marshon Lattimore has been cut by the Washington Commanders<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moving on from the veteran four-time Pro Bowl cornerback clears $18.5million in cap space for the NFC East team.<\/p>\n

This comes after the 29-year-old only played in 11 games for the team before suffering a season-ending knee injury in November.<\/p>\n

But this decision also comes after Lattimore was arrested before the season game to an end.<\/p>\n

Lattimore was arrested on January 7 and charged with\u00a0carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

Bodycam footage obtained by TMZ <\/a>shows the former Defensive Rookie of the Year telling police he did not have any weapons in his car.<\/p>\n

The Washington Commanders have cut Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lattimore was initially pulled over for a minor traffic violation. When Lakewood (Ohio) Police ran his license plates, they discovered they were expired.<\/p>\n

Police then asked if there were any guns or knives in the car, to which Lattimore responded, ‘No.’<\/p>\n

Lattimore was then told that his car would be towed and inventoried due to the expired plates. When officers opened his glovebox, they discovered a loaded handgun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

An officer was overheard saying, ‘We can go ahead and book him,’ before putting him in the back of their squad car.<\/p>\n

Lattimore informed officers that he couldn’t bend his knee properly due to his recovery from surgery on a torn ACL he sustained while playing in November.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old cornerback pled not guilty to the charges he is facing. This case remains open and active.<\/p>\n

At the time of his arrest, attorneys for Lattimore told the Daily Mail in a statement, ‘Mr. Lattimore was stopped for expired plates and fully cooperated with law enforcement. Mr. Lattimore is not in custody and has not been charged at this time.’<\/p>\n

Two days later, attorneys representing Lattimore sent a follow-up statement to the Daily Mail: ‘Mr. Lattimore has been cited for failing to promptly inform police of the lawfully possessed firearm that was in his vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘He continues to cooperate with law enforcement and will do the same as this matter proceeds. There are no other weapons related charges pending against Mr. Lattimore related to incident.’<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that Lattimore has had legal issues when it comes to firearms.<\/p>\n

In 2021, he was arrested in Cleveland for possession of a handgun that was believed to be stolen.<\/p>\n

He was charged with receiving stolen property as well as possession of a concealed weapon.<\/p>\n

Lattimore denied that the gun was stolen and he pled guilty to a lesser charge of failing to inform officers that he was in possession of a concealed handgun. He was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n

A native of Cleveland, Lattimore played college football at Ohio State before being selected 11th overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Lattimore suffered an injury in Week 9 of the 2025 campaign that ended his season<\/p>\n

He played nearly eight full seasons with the Saints before being traded to Washington in the middle of last season.<\/p>\n

In his professional career, Lattimore has been named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and has earned four Pro Bowl selections.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His 2025 season was cut short when he tore his ACL in the third quarter of the team’s Week 9 contest against the Seattle Seahawks.<\/p>\n
