The Washington Commanders<\/a> remain very busy one week ahead of free agency. Days after signing guard\/tackle Andrew Wylie<\/a> to a two-year extension and releasing starting center Tyler Biadasz<\/a>, the Commanders<\/a> reached a new two-year deal with center\/guard Nick Allegretti<\/a> and informed cornerback Marshon Lattimore that they planned to release him<\/a> ahead of the new NFL league year.<\/p>\n Other teams are doing similar things. While Washington has plenty of cap space ahead of free agency, other teams do not and are scrambling to create space before next week. The Detroit Lions<\/a> are one of those teams and released starting center\/guard Graham Glasgow on Monday. The move saves Detroit $5.5 million in cap space for 2026.<\/p>\n Shortly after the move was announced, Glasgow took to X to thank Detroit for seven years with the organization. Originally a third-round pick out of Michigan in the 2016 NFL Draft, Glasgow spent four seasons in Detroit before landing a three-year deal with the Denver Broncos<\/a> in 2020. After three seasons in Denver, Glasgow returned to the Lions, where he played for the last three years.<\/p>\n If Glasgow continues playing, he turns 34 in August, and he could be a short-term option for the Commanders. Why Washington? He has ties to several key figures in the organization, including assistant general manager Lance Newmark. Newmark was in Detroit’s front office when it drafted Glasgow. New offensive coordinator David Blough was a teammate of Glasgow’s with the Lions. Additionally, new tight ends coach Ben Steele was on Detroit’s coaching staff in 2022.<\/p>\n Glasgow has experience playing guard and center. When Frank Ragnow retired, Glasgow moved from left guard to center for the 2025 season. Washington left guard Chris Paul is an unrestricted free agent, and the Commanders are currently without a starting center, unless Allegretti is the plan to start there.<\/p>\n
