The NFL\u2019s<\/a> new league year is a little over a week away. Teams are ironing out strategy in free agent acquisitions to build their 2026 rosters.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota Vikings are in limbo at quarterback. With multiple reports indicating their concern with JJ McCarthy, they are likely to add a veteran in 2026.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN told the<\/a> Dan Patrick Show that the Vikings have a specific option in mind. If they can\u2019t land Kyler Murray or Geno Smith, they will pursue Tua Tagovailoa.<\/p>\n

Tagovailoa was reportedly set to be released with a post-June 1st designation. His time in Miami has come to a close, and they have no interested trading parties.<\/p>\n

Tagovailoa\u2019s contract makes it difficult for the Vikings, or any team, to trade for him. However, teams could probably get a veteran minimum deal for him.<\/p>\n

The contract situation could be similar to Russell Wilson\u2019s in 2024 when he joined the Steelers. The Steelers paid him a vet-minimum deal; the Denver Broncos are the rest.<\/p>\n
