{"id":78925,"date":"2025-05-25T22:45:18","date_gmt":"2025-05-25T22:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/78925\/"},"modified":"2025-05-25T22:45:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-25T22:45:18","slug":"ex-psu-football-player-injured-girlfriend-killed-in-atv-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/78925\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-PSU football player injured, girlfriend killed in ATV crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Penn State football player was injured and his girlfriend was <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/former-penn-state-player-julian-fleming-injured-in-atv-accident-that-killed-girlfriend-11741555\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">killed in an ATV accident<\/a> in northern Pennsylvania, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pa.gov\/content\/dam\/copapwp-pagov\/en\/psp\/documents\/pirrs\/towanda-press-releases\/p_towa_24may2025_2230.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Julian Fleming, 24, and Alyssa Boyd, 23,<\/a> were riding on a Yamaha four-wheeler in Columbia Township on Friday night when they struck a deer on a rural road, Pennsylvania State Police said in a crash report Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Fleming was driving the all-terrain vehicle and sustained serious injuries, police said. He was transported to a local hospital but was <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/college\/penn-state\/article\/former-penn-state-wr-fleming-seriously-injured-in-deadly-atv-accident-250253690\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">released by Sunday afternoon<\/a>, according to 247 Sports.<\/p>\n<p>Boyd, a native of Bloomsburg, Pa., sustained \u201cextensive injuries\u201d and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pahomepage.com\/news\/1-woman-dead-after-bradford-county-atv-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pronounced dead at the scene<\/a>, cops said. Investigators also found a dead deer nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Boyd\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DCPqNS9y-Ft\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">final Instagram post<\/a> showed her and Fleming together following a Penn State football game last Nov. 9. (Instagram \/ alyssaboyd)<\/p>\n<p>Fleming was a <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/player\/julian-fleming-46040058\/high-school-191412\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">highly touted recruit in high school<\/a>, where he was a superstar at Southern Columbia High in Catawissa, Pa. He played four seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Penn State for his final season in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>After completing his college career, he earned tryouts with a few NFL teams but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsitem.com\/sports\/pro-football-fleming-fails-physical-with-packers\/article_21c557e3-e625-4d77-8e68-110646d48419.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">failed a physical with the Green Bay Packers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Columbia Township, where the accident occurred, is about halfway between Allentown, Pa., and Buffalo in sparsely populated northern Pennsylvania.
