Philadelphia Eagles. Biggest Need: Tight end. Target: TE Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon. Dallas Goedert is a free agent, which could cause the Eagles to turn to the draft for their tight end of the future. Sadiq is one of the most athletic tight ends to come out in recent memory. He projects to be a matchup nightmare at the next level with his skill set and versatility. Sadiq led all FBS tight ends with eight receiving touchdowns in 2025 and ranked in the top 10 in deep receptions of 20-plus yards (nine) and contested catches (seven).<\/p>\n
Eagles: Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon: Whether or not the Eagles bring back Dallas Goedert, and I doubt they can afford him at this point, they need to start thinking about the tight end position as Goedert is now 31 and going into his ninth season and the cupboard is bare beyond him. Sadiq isn\u2019t a bad blocker, but his strength is as a pass catcher, and that\u2019s what\u2019s in vogue these days at tight end in the NFL. Guys who can catch and run and make plays, and that\u2019s something the Eagles desperately need. The Eagles haven\u2019t taken a tight end in the first round since Keith Jackson in 1988, but Sadiq is similar to Jackson in that he can run and catch like a wide receiver, and he\u2019ll give Jalen Hurts another weapon, which he needs whether or not A.J. Brown and Goedert are here. Sadiq had 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns this past year for the Ducks and he\u2019s just what Sean Mannion needs. A terrific Combine may have moved Sadiq out of range for the Eagles, but if he\u2019s there, they need to take him.<\/p>\n
This draft is better than people are giving it credit for, particularly in the range where things start to look realistic for the Eagles. The precombine consensus had Sadiq going No. 19, Concepcion going No. 27, and Bernard going No. 69. The Eagles have picks No. 23 and 54, but I\u2019m skeptical that they\u2019ll be in position to pick two of the three. The idea that Sadiq will last anywhere close to No. 23 always seemed detached from reality. That\u2019s especially true after a combine performance unlike any we\u2019ve seen at the tight end position in recent memory. Sadiq\u2019s 40-yard dash time of 4.39 seconds was the fastest by a tight end since converted quarterback Matt Jones in 2003. His 1.54 10-yard split would have ranked him among the Top 12 wide receivers at this year\u2019s combine. He also put up wideout-like numbers in the broad jump and vertical leap.<\/p>\n
KENYON SADIQ: I was tempted to include both of the top two testers of this group — Oregon\u2019s Sadiq and Vanderbilt\u2019s Eli Stowers — because they\u2019re also clearly the top two prospects at the position, and they each posted records that could stand for quite some time. Stowers jumped an absurd 45.5 inches in the vertical, while Sadiq ran a 4.39-second 40, the fastest time for a tight end since at least 2003. However, neither participated in the field drills, and I ultimately decided to save at least one spot here for someone who did. I gave Sadiq (who also recorded an absurd 43.5-inch vertical) the edge over Stowers because of Sadiq\u2019s combined results. He\u2019s an athletic freak, confirming the reputation he\u2019d built up at Oregon, but consistency with his hands remains a question. It\u2019s not necessarily surprising that he didn\u2019t try to settle the matter under the spotlight in Indy. Instead, he stole headlines with his testing numbers, which produced a top-three overall Next Gen Stats athleticism score of 95 and generated a 28% percent probability he\u2019ll make a Pro Bowl in his career, per NGS. That\u2019s pretty good.<\/p>\n
The NFL Combine has now come to pass and as teams start making moves based on things they saw and conversations they had, we\u2019re still getting information about some of the rumors floating around Indy. NBC Sports Matthew Berry put together 35 notables based on what he was hearing, and one interesting thing as it relates to the Eagles was about Dallas Goedert.<\/p>\n
Philadelphia Eagles. There\u2019s some financial wiggle room here, and I understand the Eagles interest \u2014 especially if they clear A.J. Brown off the books. The issue is that defense wasn\u2019t really the issue in 2025. Spending money on that side of the ball leads to diminishing returns when the $30+ million in cap space could be used to fix some of the problems on the offensive side of the ball. If there\u2019s a desire to turn Philly into even more of a defensive-first football team, okay. Still I not sure this makes a lot of sense based on where they\u2019re at.<\/p>\n
The safety group looked good in their workouts. That made me wonder if teams will prefer to go with draft pick rather than mid-tier free agents. If that happens, it could weaken the market for Reed Blankenship. He\u2019s been a solid starter for the Eagles. They probably want him back at the right price, but know there has to be a walkaway number. He\u2019s not a difference maker. Would the Eagles draft a safety in the first round? If so Dillon Thieneman should be of interest. He\u2019s 6-0, 201. As a freshman at Purdue he played deep a lot and had 6 INTs. He transfeered to Oregon and they played him closer to the line of scrimmage. Thieneman excelled in that role as well.<\/p>\n
23) Philadelphia Eagles. Caleb Lomu, OT, Utah. Future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson sat out eight games in 2025 and will be 36 next season. The Eagles are known for planning ahead and drafting heir apparents to long-term veterans before they are needed. Lomu has plenty of potential and can play either tackle spot, but he must improve his play strength. Ideally, he\u2019ll get time to increase that strength while learning behind Johnson, but Johnson\u2019s age and durability concerns could force Lomu to play earlier than expected.<\/p>\n
Dispositions are often discovered at the NFL Scouting Combine. They can echo in the convention center hallways for years. Two reverberations hit me when talking about Jalen Hurts with coaches from around the league. The first was the quarterback\u2019s own words. In 2020, in an interview with the Philadelphia Eagles inside a Lucas Oil Stadium suite, Hurts pitched himself to staffers by saying, \u201cI\u2019m a student. I want to learn.\u201d The second was an anecdote from Lincoln Riley. In a 2024 story, the former Oklahoma coach told me he logged roughly 20 hours on the phone with Hurts before securing the Alabama transfer\u2019s commitment. They covered Riley\u2019s full vision of how Hurts fit offensively in what became their only season together, a playoff-bound year in which Hurts was voted runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. \u201cIt was that in-depth,\u201d Riley told me. \u201cYou could tell how meticulous he was and how important it was to him to really understand and to be very thorough.\u201d I heard those echoes when another word swelled in my conversations last week: Willingness.<\/p>\n
It feels like the Dallas Cowboys are going to make a move or two in free agency. Yes, we have gotten our hopes up before only to have them dashed at the very end. For all we know the team will sit out the early phase and sign a handful of players at the end. That would be par for the course. The Cowboys are acting a bit differently this offseason, though. It is objectively fair to say that they are stepping forward with a bit more purpose than in years past. That purpose may not lead to significant change in overall operation, but it might.<\/p>\n
General manager Adam Peters acquired Lattimore at the trade deadline in 2024. It was a move he said would help the Commanders that season, and in the future. Washington sent third-, fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2025 draft to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick. He was still dealing with a hamstring injury at the time, and didn\u2019t suit up for the Commanders for the first four games he was with the team. Lattimore played in two games during the regular season, and all three playoff games. He started every game last season until his Week 9 injury.<\/p>\n
If Cor\u2019Dale Flott leaves in free agency next week, the New York Giants will be in the market for a new starting cornerback. ESPN\u2019s Aaron Schatz has an interesting, inexpensive idea for where the Giants might find one. Schatz is suggesting that the Giants Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Eric Stokes.<\/p>\n
