As star defensive back Sauce Gardner<\/a>\u2019s future is now with the Indianapolis Colts, it comes after he was traded from the New York Jets<\/a>, where he had been a foundational piece to the team\u2019s defense. While Gardner\u2019s time with the Jets has come to an end,<\/a> he hasn\u2019t been shy about giving them props, especially individual players, as he did with wide receiver Garrett Wilson.<\/p>\n

Gardner would speak to Kevin Clark on Tuesday, as he was asked who the toughest receiver to cover in the NFL was, responding with his former teammate in Wilson. The key trait that Gardner emphasizes when talking about Wilson\u2019s defining trait is his \u201cdecisiveness.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI probably say Garrett Wilson<\/a>, my ex-teammate,\u201d Gardner said. \u201cDecisiveness, like, a lot of people, it was hard for people to see all that he can do, because he don\u2019t always get the same treatment, like he\u2019s not just getting put on the island all of the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, sometimes, but a lot of times it\u2019s teams that defense playing two-high and it might be a double because the safety leaning and they don\u2019t think the other receiver on the other side can get open against man with no help, so you know, but he\u2019s very decisive, like it\u2019s hard to predict what he\u2019s going to do, so you just got to react. And sometimes by the time it\u2019s time to react, it\u2019s too late,\u201d Gardner continued.<\/p>\n

Wilson has played four seasons in the NFL, all with New York, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in his first three seasons, but failing to do so last year as he only played in eight games. When Gardner was with the Jets, there\u2019s no denying that he was covering the receiver in practice constantly, making the answer not surprising in the slightest.<\/p>\n
