ASU WR WANTS WARD AT DRAFT<\/p>\n
Hines Ward is one of the best wide receivers in<\/a> Steelers history. He\u2019s their franchise leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. While he retired after the 2011 season, he joined the Steelers\u2019 coaching staff in 2017 as an offensive intern. He\u2019s continued to coach, and he\u2019s been Arizona State University\u2019s wide receivers coach since 2024.<\/p>\n One of Ward\u2019s players will likely be selected early in this year\u2019s draft, too. Jordyn Tyson is one of the top receiver prospects available, and he could even follow in Ward\u2019s footsteps and join the Steelers. With the draft in Pittsburgh this year, Tyson plans to attend. Sometimes, talented players fall because of injury concerns. Darnell Washington and Payton Wilson are some good examples.<\/p>\n Some rumors recently suggested that Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, largely seen as one of the draft\u2019s top prospects, could suffer a similar fate. There were some reports that he\u2019s dealing with a significant injury. However, former Steelers safety Ryan Clark recently shared on Twitter that<\/a> multiple team doctors have confirmed to him that there are no concerns for Downs\u2019 medical evaluations.<\/p>\n From a source close to Caleb Downs: <\/p>\n \u201cMultiple team doctors confirmed that they had no concern over his medical eval and his draft grade will not be affected at all with them.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014 Ryan Clark (@Realrclark25) March 3, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n DOM CAPERS JOINS BROWNS<\/p>\n The 1990s Steelers recaptured some of the franchise\u2019s former glory. Specifically, Bill Cowher taking over as head coach helped the team become a consistent playoff threat again. Part of that was thanks to the team\u2019s stellar defense, which earned the nickname Blitzburgh. Dom Capers helped coach that unit as the Steelers\u2019 defensive coordinator from 1992 to 1994.<\/p>\n He\u2019s continued to bounce around the league over the years. Capers most recently was a senior defensive assistant for the Carolina Panthers from 2023 to 2025. However, he\u2019s now joined the Cleveland Browns in that same role, as Around the NFL on Twitter shared.<\/a> While it\u2019s unclear how involved he\u2019ll be with the team, he\u2019ll have a chance to face his former team, the Steelers.<\/p>\n
