The Miami Dolphins<\/a> are in a tricky spot this offseason. Tua Tagovailoa is almost certainly gone, but his expected departure brings a lot of cap troubles.<\/p>\n

He’s going to account for a $99.2 million dead cap charge if released. Miami can spread that over two years, but they will still need to find a cheap QB for 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n

There’s a fantastic option that just became available in the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> recently released QB Kyler Murray. But, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports<\/a>, Murray is strongly linked to the Minnesota Vikings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“But if the Vikings can’t clear the cap space – and because the Colts<\/a> hold right of first-refusal rights for Jones – the name circulating around Minnesota is quarterback Kyler Murray,” Jones reports.<\/p>\n

This report from Jones indicates that of the free agent quarterbacks the Vikings could land, they’re most strongly tied to Murray.<\/p>\n

With the Cardinals paying $36.8 million for Murray in 2026, the veteran quarterback can sign a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum, right around $1 million total, and give a team a cheap, but high-ceiling QB for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

For the Dolphins, a team likely about to eat north of $50 million in dead cap in 2026 for cutting Tagovailoa, Murray would be the perfect free agent option.<\/p>\n

Being able to sign Murray, a Pro Bowl dual-threat quarterback who has over 20,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in his career, to go with 121 passing touchdowns and 32 rushing touchdowns, would be perfect for Miami.<\/p>\n

In Murray’s shoes, while the Dolphins are a great organization to join, and he will get the starting job right away, in Minnesota, he has a chance to make the playoffs with a good Vikings roster. Plus, he will get to throw to Justin Jefferson.<\/p>\n

This report from Jones, indicating the Vikings are strongly linked to Murray, is some bad news for the Dolphins. While they can still bring in Murray, the Vikings are a great landing spot, and he could very easily choose Minnesota over Miami this offseason.<\/p>\n
