Every year we get these rumors, these rumblings about a month before the draft where we start hearing, “Oh no, that guy’s definitely going in the first round.”<\/p>\n

And then all of a sudden calmer heads prevail.<\/p>\n

I mean, the joke is I’m old enough to remember when some people were reporting that Will Levis was going to be a top three pick in the NFL draft.<\/p>\n

We all knew that wasn’t true, but that’s what happens, right?<\/p>\n

So what have we seen in the last week since the combine?<\/p>\n

We’ve seen the meteoric rise of Ty Simpson, right?<\/p>\n

Because in part he threw incredibly well.<\/p>\n

People really like him.<\/p>\n

Now we’ve got a lot of people breaking down his tape, finding the positives they like from him.<\/p>\n

I think there are a million question marks about Ty Simpson.<\/p>\n

I am very thankful that my favorite team isn’t picking in the middle of the first round, because I think somebody’s going to roll the dice way too early on a quarterback that has real question marks.<\/p>\n

I would be stunned, honestly, if as we sit here today, I’d be stunned picking at 21 if Ty Simpson is available to the Steelers too, because everybody knows they need a quarterback.<\/p>\n

So now all of a sudden people are gonna be looking to hop in front of them.<\/p>\n

Hell, is a team like the Jets who currently sit here with the 16th pick in the first round, are they gonna take a flyer on Ty Simpson?<\/p>\n

Are the Rams gonna take a developmental flyer on a future quarterback?<\/p>\n

Is Miami that’s gonna be on the quarterback market?<\/p>\n

This is what we’re gonna be doing on our draft shows.<\/p>\n

Once we hit about 10 on the first round of the draft, every speculation and for every trade is gonna be, well, is this a trade up to try and get Ty Simpson?<\/p>\n

So I’m, I’m fearful for the Steelers fan base.<\/p>\n

If you’re the Steelers and you do draft Ty Simpson, if you’re lucky enough to get him in the first round, let’s say that’s what they wanna do, do you bring back Aaron Rodgers to sort of bridge that gap or do you go all in and immediately hand Ty the ball and say, “You, sir, are the future”?<\/p>\n

Heck no.<\/p>\n

None of the above.<\/p>\n

C, none of the above.<\/p>\n

I don’t think it makes sense in a world for the Steelers to bring back Aaron Rodgers in any s- any situation, in any circumstance.<\/p>\n

With Ty Simpson, without Ty Simpson, with Cade Klubnik, Drew Aller, Garrett Haas, no.<\/p>\n

No.<\/p>\n

Just cut the tie, all right?<\/p>\n

I’m, just move on from Aaron Rodgers because like Kyler Murray in Arizona, everybody, they, they moved on from Kyler Murray because they knew exactly what they were going to get from Kyler Murray and it wasn’t good enough.<\/p>\n

With Aaron Rodgers, you know exactly what you are going to get and it is the exact same thing that the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten for the last decade.<\/p>\n

You go nine and eight, you squeak into the playoffs, you lose in the first round of the postseason, and then you move on and hope for better the next year, but you don’t.<\/p>\n

You get the exact same thing.<\/p>\n

It has been Groundhog Day in Pittsburgh for a decade.<\/p>\n
