The team will release him at the start of the new league year on March 11.

According to NFL Media, finances played into this situation. His base salary is set to jump from $2.9 million last season to $20.6 million in 2026. His salary cap hit is set to go from $10.5 million to $26.5 million.

“Thank you for a hell of a year. We family forever,” Diggs wrote on his Instagram Story after news of his release surfaced.

Diggs joined the Patriots last season as he recovered from a torn ACL suffered in 2024. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Patriots while catching 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He added 14 receptions for 110 yards and one touchdowns as the Patriots reached Super Bowl 60.

As the season progressed, news of legal issues surfaced. His personal chef filed a lawsuit, which led to a charge of felony strangulation and other criminal charges. Diggs pleaded not guilty to all charges when he appeared in court on Feb. 13.

This arraignment had been postponed until after Super Bowl 60 so that Diggs could play in the game, which the Patriots ultimately lost to the Seahawks.

The next court appearance will be a pre-trial hearing on April 1. Diggs’ attorney has said that there will not be a plea deal and that he is confident that the facts will present a different picture of the alleged incident involving the receiver and his former personal chef.

According to police records, the personal chef alleged that Diggs entered her unlocked bedroom after an ongoing text exchange about money owed to her. The chef alleged that Diggs “smacked her in the face” and then tried to “choke her using the crook of his elbow.”

“The New England Patriots are aware of the accusations that have been made regarding Stefon Diggs,” the team said in a statement in late December. “Stefon has informed the organization that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon.

“We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL as necessary. Out of respect for all parties involved, and given that this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Stefon Diggs signed a three-year deal with the New England Patriot, but he will not finish out this…

[2050
7,1167,249,2326,2094,6,208,531
0":"post-792421","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-england-patriots","8":"tag-football","9":"tag-new-england","10":"tag-new-england-patriots","11":"tag-newengland","12":"tag-newenglandpatriots","13":"tag-nfl","14":"tag-patriots","15":"tag-stefon-diggs
["GET
