(FOX Carolina) &#8211; Lou Holtz has died at age 89, according to a report from the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxcarolina.com\/2026\/03\/04\/lou-holtz-legendary-college-football-coach-dies-89\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.foxcarolina.com\/2026\/03\/04\/lou-holtz-legendary-college-football-coach-dies-89\/\"> Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Holtz was a former coach for the USC Gamecocks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe impact of Coach Holtz\u2019s tenure is not limited to wins, awards, bowl games, or historical milestones,\u201d the Gamecocks said in a press release. \u201cIt is reflected in the quotes and social media posts of his former players, coaches, and staff during the past week. His true legacy lies in the life lessons he taught\u2014lessons that extended far beyond football.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Senator Lindsey Graham also spoke out after the announcement:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2\">A giant tree has fallen with the passing of my good friend, Lou Holtz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2\">There will be plenty of time to talk about his amazing wife, family, and accomplishments.
