A running back with ties to Jacksonville Jaguars’<\/a> head coach Liam Coen is now set to become a free agent.<\/p>\n According to ESPN’s<\/a> Jeremy Fowler, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> are non-tendering restricted free agent running back Sean Tucker. He will now be a free agent and able to sign where he pleases.<\/p>\n Tucker went undrafted in 2023 out of Syracuse and signed with the Bucs. Coen was Tucker’s offensive coordinator during his second NFL season in 2024.<\/p>\n As the third Bucs’ running back on the depth chart, Tucker was still involved in the offense, carrying the ball 86 times last season for 320 yards. He also led the team in rushing touchdowns with seven, despite the relative lack of opportunities.<\/p>\n With Coen calling the plays in 2024, Tucker averaged 6.2 yards per rush on 50 carries, according to PFF<\/a>.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n Travis Etienne<\/a> is going to be a free agent, and CBS Sports<\/a> insider Jonathan Jones doesn’t expect him back<\/a> with the Jaguars<\/a>.<\/p>\n In that instance, Jacksonville still has Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen, a pair of second-year backs that the team is very bullish on. But even so, adding depth and competition to this position will still likely be on James Gladstone’s to-do list.<\/p>\n Adding Tucker to the mix, who will be familiar with Jacksonville’s offense, could accomplish that and do so without breaking the bank.<\/p>\n The run game element is important to the Coen system, and looking back on the 2025 season, it’s an area where the Jaguars’ offense can continue to improve, which can help take this unit to another level.<\/p>\n
