The Indianapolis Colts<\/a> decided to apply the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones on Tuesday, leaving them vulnerable to potentially losing star wideout Alec Pierce, and the Tennessee Titans<\/a> could be ready to pounce.<\/p>\n

The Titans have a significant need at wide receiver, and Pierce has a skill set that could flourish alongside Cam Ward, giving the Titans offense an established, serious threat that can stretch the defense. Not to mention the benefit of weakening a division rival.<\/p>\n

Throughout the offseason, Pierce has emerged as a potential target for the Titans, who are set to open free agency with the most available salary cap space in the league. Now, you can add ESPN<\/a> as an outlet that believes Pierce to the Titans is a possibility.<\/p>\n

With the Titans in position to be active in free agency, I like Pierce in Tennessee under new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Pierce has the vertical stretch ability to produce down the field and can play a volume role as a multilevel target for quarterback Cam Ward. Pierce averaged a league-best 21.3 yards per catch with the Colts in 2025.<\/p>\n

While Wan\u2019Dale Robinson has gotten a lot of press lately with his connection to offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, Pierce does make sense as an outside receiver in the Titans’ offense. But it will come at a high price in the ESPN projection.<\/p>\n

Pierce has been the league’s most explosive receiver over the past two seasons with 21.8 yards per reception, well above second place (Lions’ Jameson Williams at 17.2). He also has the size (6-foot-3, 211 pounds) and strength to be used more as a traditional WR1 at all three levels of the field. Cap-rich teams are desperate to give Pierce a deal in the high-$20 million range of average annual value.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, free agency is still a week away, and the Colts still have a chance to lock up the explosive receiver to a long-term deal and are said to be in negotiations.
