Broncos HC Sean Payton discussed what he called at the end of the season a \u201cpredisposed\u201d ankle injury regarding QB Bo Nix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to get into the injury,\u201d\u00a0Payton said, via Broncos Wire<\/a>. \u201cWhat I meant [by] predisposed, there was a slight [pre-existing fracture]. He\u2019s not [predisposed] and there weren\u2019t multiple [surgeries].\u201d<\/p>\n

Payton added that he was surprised that DC Vance Joseph didn\u2019t get a head coaching position this cycle and said that there are multiple teams that \u201ccan\u2019t get out of their own way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are 32 of these teams that are owned individually,\u201d Payton said.\u00a0Everyone is different.\u00a0And yet, a lot of them have trouble getting out of their own way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Payton also put pressure on ownership to re-sign GM George Paton to a long-term contract and wants him to remain in Denver.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s overdue,\u201d Payton said. \u201cI say that respectfully to the process, but he and I have a great working relationship. So my job wouldn\u2019t be as fun or as exciting if he wasn\u2019t a part of it. That should be something that gets handled quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paton said the team will look to sign both LB Alex Singleton<\/a> and Justin Strnad<\/a> to contract extensions this offseason.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d love to have them back, regardless of what\u2019s in the draft,\u201d Paton said. \u201cWe see those guys as Broncos. If we let those guys leave, what are we doing?\u201d<\/p>\n

Tony Pauline of EssentiallySports<\/a> reports that people attending the NFL Combine expected the Chargers to cut OL Mekhi Becton<\/a>.\u00a0
\nAccording to Pauline, there is no mutual interest between the Eagles and Becton.\u00a0
\nPauline writes that Becton\u2019s decision to fire his agent \u201craised red flags\u201d for Philadelphia.\u00a0
\nPauline\u2019s sources at the combine mention that former OL coach Jeff Stoutland\u2018s departure from the Eagles makes them increasingly skeptical about a reunion with Becton.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Per multiple reports, Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza said at the Combine that he had a formal interview with the Raiders.\u00a0
