With that in mind, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Broncos are in the market to add another tight end to their ranks. A player with extensive experience as an inline tight end who can block will be important to add, but finding one who can also offer skills as a receiver would be an added bonus.

One player that could pique their interest is Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert. An eight-year NFL veteran, Goedert has been a productive player over his career since being drafted out of South Dakota State in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. However, he is entering the twilight years of his career. Let’s discuss his fit as a potential member of the Broncos.

Tight End | Dallas Goedert | Philadelphia Eagles

Experience: 8 NFL seasons

2025 stats: 15 games played with 15 starts. 60 catches on 82 targets for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. 34 receptions for first downs. 73-percent catch rate. Four drops.

Should the Broncos sign tight end Dallas Goedert?

There are a handful of options Denver could consider in free agency. Players like Cade Otton, Chig Okonkwo and Charlie Kolar have been discussed in prior articles. All three are quite different players, with some fitting better than others. Otton is likely the most well-rounded of the bunch, with Okonkwo being the best receiver, and Kolar offering the most upside as a blocker.

Despite his age, I think Goedert is a good fit. In fact, he could very well be the most “well-rounded” option for Denver to pursue. He has a lot of playing experience and has produced at a high level throughout his career. Last season, he reeled in 11 touchdowns and was a tremendous red zone threat for the Eagles’ offense. A 73-percent catch-rate shows his reliability when targeted. He has only 20 drops over the past eight years.

Run blocking has been a strength of Goedert’s throughout his career. However, last season marked a significant drop in efficiency in that respect. He was credited with 12 blown blocks on 242 run blocking snaps. For perspective, Goedert had none in 2024 and only 20 before that for his entire career. I was surprised to see that drastic of a drop off in ‘25 considering how good he has been as a run blocker.

According to Spotrac, Goedert’s market value is estimated at $6 million per year on his next contract. If that’s the case, I don’t feel the Broncos have much to risk or lose by making him an offer.

Why the Broncos will not sign Dallas Goedert in free agency.

One key reason for pause would be the aforementioned regression as a run blocker. Figuring out the exact reasons that happened will be important for the Broncos’ brass to evaluate. Other than that, I can’t think of too many reasons they shouldn’t consider pursuing him. Perhaps there will be a lot more demand than one would assume, making Spotrac’s estimated cap figure above a lot lower than it potentially could be.

Spending in free agency always is a calculated risk. If the Broncos are looking for a battle-tested option that has played a lot of snaps inline, Goedert is definitely one of the players available in free agency that makes sense. While not a long-term fix at the position, bringing him in on a short-term deal makes sense.

He is a talented receiving threat and, in the past, has shown great ability to jumpstart the run game. In my honest opinion, chasing Goedert would be smart to consider. There are very few players out there who have his experience, versatility, and championship pedigree.

What do you think, Broncos Country?
