Range Sports\u2019 women\u2019s division is adding 18-year-old flag football standout Kiona \u201cKi\u2019Lolo\u201d Westerlund to its talent representation roster as a client. The agency will be handling her NIL deals. She will be managed by her point agent, Range Sports Coordinator of Player Relations, Nyah Jones.<\/p>\n
Though flag football isn\u2019t yet among the most competitive sports in talent representation, the backdrop of the 2028 Summer Games in L.A. and the debut of flag football<\/a> there is putting an increased spotlight on the sport. Westerlund starred in an NFL Flag 50 commercial during Super Bowl LIX last year. Though Range isn\u2019t planning on opening its own flag football representation business, Range Head of Women\u2019s Sports Rheann Engelke believes Westerlund gives the agency a good chance to capitalize on the sport\u2019s momentum.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re always looking for women we can really build a brand around in emerging sports. You know there are going to be some big names coming out of LA28. So, our mindset is to be early adopters in those spaces and to treat women\u2019s sports as something you get in on early, not as an afterthought,\u201d Engelke said. \u201cKiana is exactly the kind of performance and personality fit we want to bet on.\u201d<\/p>\n Westerlund had been approached by at least six other agencies — all led by men. She turned them down in favor of an all-women representation team. Range\u2019s women\u2019s division team consists of Engelke, Jones and coordinator Ally Wo.<\/p>\n The division launched last year<\/a> and has grown to represent 35 women\u2019s athletes, including Olympic women\u2019s rugby player Ilona Maher<\/a> and Olympic champion figure skater Amber Glenn. The women\u2019s division has committed to over $20M in marketing deals through 2028.<\/p>\n Westerlund, a freshman WR\/DB at Alabama State Univ., was among one of the first athletes to receive a D1 offer to play flag football. Engelke said she sees \u201climitless\u201d potential for her in the marketing space, where Range will be targeting deals with more women-focused brands like hair and makeup and endemic football brands, as well as Team USA deals if she qualifies to play in the 2028 L.A. Olympics.<\/p>\n Other flag football players who have signed with sports agencies include Mexican world champion QB Diana Flores, who signed with SMAC Entertainment<\/a>, and Woodson High School (D.C.)
