{"id":794951,"date":"2026-03-06T00:38:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T00:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/794951\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T00:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T00:38:14","slug":"ncaa-appeals-to-ms-supreme-court-seeks-to-bar-trinidad-chambliss-from-playing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/794951\/","title":{"rendered":"NCAA Appeals to MS Supreme Court, Seeks To Bar Trinidad Chambliss From Playing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-d515c0f6=\"\">The NCAA has filed an appeal in the eligibility case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/college-football\/ole-miss-rebels-team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ole Miss<\/a> quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/college-football\/trinidad-chambliss-player\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Trinidad Chambliss<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-d515c0f6=\"\">In the appeal, filed Thursday with the Mississippi Supreme Court, the NCAA argues that Chambliss has &#8220;exhausted his eligibility&#8221; to play Division I football because he has already played four seasons in a five-year period, the maximum allowed under NCAA rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-d515c0f6=\"\">A Mississippi judge last month granted Chambliss a preliminary injunction against college athletics\u2019 governing body, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/stories\/college-football\/ole-miss-qb-trinidad-chambliss-granted-extra-year-eligibility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">giving him an extra year of eligibility that would allow him to play in 2026<\/a>. The NCAA had previously denied Chambliss&#8217; request for a waiver.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"false\" data-v-d515c0f6=\"\">Chambliss began his college career at Ferris State in 2021, redshirted his first season and did not play in 2022 because of medical issues.
