The longest-tenured Los Angeles Rams player is sticking around a little longer.<\/p>\n

The Rams have re-signed tight end Tyler Higbee to a two-year deal worth up to $8 million, according to a league source. He is No. 58 on The Athletic\u2019s list of top 150 free agents<\/a> and the sixth-ranked tight end.<\/p>\n

Higbee will return for an 11th season with the team that drafted him in the fourth round in 2016. He is now the longest-tenured player on the roster following the retirement of right tackle Rob Havenstein this offseason.<\/p>\n

Higbee has started 127 of his 138 games over 10 seasons. He was an integral part of the Rams\u2019 run to the Super Bowl in 2021 as a checkdown option for Matthew Stafford, who has called Higbee one of his favorite teammates.<\/p>\n

Injuries have cut into Higbee\u2019s performance the past two seasons and limited him to just 13 total games.<\/p>\n

Last season, he started eight of 10 games and caught 25 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns. He was one of four tight ends who saw consistent action as the Rams deployed more three-tight end sets than any team in the league.<\/p>\n

Now, Higbee will return to that group of Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson. His return makes it more likely that the Rams will continue to use those 13-personnel sets they introduced last season.<\/p>\n

Higbee is one of two players the Rams have signed back so far, along with offensive lineman David Quessenberry. Los Angeles could still sign others before next week\u2019s start of free agency from a list that includes safety Kam Curl and cornerbacks Cobie Durant and Ahkello Witherspoon.<\/p>\n
