It was not long ago that sportsbooks across the country had the Chicago Bears<\/a> listed as the favorites to trade for Raiders<\/a> edge defender Maxx Crosby<\/a>, which could be the case again with a potential new trade offer that Chicago is now capable of making to Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday, March 5 \u2014 following the Bears\u2019 trade of wide receiver DJ Moore<\/a> to the Buffalo Bills<\/a> \u2014 that other teams were in stronger position to acquire the Raiders\u2019 five-time Pro Bowl defensive end.<\/p>\n

\u201cSchefter was just on @WaddleandSilvy<\/a>,\u201d Aaron Leming of 247 Sports posted to X<\/a>. \u201cDidn\u2019t seem convinced Maxx Crosby gets dealt, but did say he doesn\u2019t see the #Bears in the driver\u2019s seat for a deal right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bill Barnwell of ESPN authored a trade pitch<\/a> last month, in which the Bears flipped Moore and their 2026 first-round pick (No. 25 overall) to the Raiders for Crosby and a fifth-rounder in return.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Barnwell suggested a deal that is actually a better value for Las Vegas considering what Chicago got back for Moore and what it can now offer the Raiders in trade for Crosby.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Raiders are reportedly\u00a0hoping to land a\u00a0Micah Parsons<\/a>-sized\u00a0haul for their star edge rusher, but I\u2019m not sure that sort of return is going to be realistic for a player who is several years older than the Packers<\/a> standout,\u201d Barnwell wrote<\/a>, referencing the package of two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark<\/a> that Dallas got from Green Bay. \u201cThe Bears could now offer first- and second-round picks and still have two picks to work with on Day 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bears Can Make Raiders Better Offer With 2nd-Round Pick They Got in DJ Moore Trade\"DJ<\/p>\n

Chicago sent the Bills Moore and a fifth-round pick in return for a second-round selection in April, the 60th overall pick to be exact.<\/p>\n

Barnwell sung the praises of Bears general manager Ryan Poles<\/a> for his ability to extract that kind of value for Moore, who the ESPN analyst believes had Day 3 trade value in a vacuum.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bears got the 60th pick as part of this deal, and although they\u2019re sending a fifth-rounder to Buffalo along with Moore, the difference between those two selections amounts to something like the 89th pick in a typical draft, per the Chase Stuart draft chart<\/a>,\u201d Barnwell wrote.<\/p>\n

If Chicago were to offer the Raiders the Nos. 25 and 60 picks<\/a> in 2026 for Crosby, that would be a stronger value than pick No. 25 and Moore. It may also might end up the best deal on the table for the Raiders.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> were in serious talks with Las Vegas for Crosby, but bowed out on Thursday due to the Raiders\u2019 asking price.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Maxx Crosby and the Cowboys being at play here \u2026. here is what I\u2019m being told from a team source. \u2018Raiders are talking to a lot of people. But we would not give up two first rounders,’\u201d Jane Slater of NFL Network reported on X<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s the situation now. Will that change? I don\u2019t know, but I checked for those of you interested.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dallas owner Jerry Jones<\/a> has a strong reputation of paying a premium in trade when he truly likes a player, and there isn\u2019t much not to like about Crosby.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys\u2019 decision to back off of conversations at that price point could be a harbinger for how other NFL<\/a> teams approach Las Vegas in the coming days. Thus, Chicago could climb back into the driver\u2019s seat, and even take a firmer grip on the wheel, if the Bears are willing to part with a first- and second-rounder to secure one of the league\u2019s elite pass-rushers in Crosby.<\/p>\n
