The New York Jets have made a series of puzzling moves so far. On Friday, it was reported<\/a> that they are in discussions of reuniting with their former quarterback.<\/p>\n

That former quarterback? 2013 second-round pick Geno Smith. Smith was recently released by the Las Vegas Raiders after being traded last offseason.<\/p>\n

He is free to go to his next team, and the Jets have reported a strong interest in the 13-year veteran. The idea is essentially a one-year stopgap to help this young offensive group.<\/p>\n

Smith may not have panned out in Las Vegas, but he could still be a steady presence\u2013especially a decade removed from New York.<\/p>\n

Still, the interest is\u2026 interesting to say the least. Smith wasn\u2019t necessarily disliked by Jets fans, but wasn\u2019t loved either.<\/p>\n

The Jets have been rumored to be linked to quarterback Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL Draft. After all, they have two first-round picks to work with.<\/p>\n

Could Geno Smith be a mentor for Simpson if selected by the Jets? If there\u2019s anyone who can show the expectations of the media and fan base in New York, it\u2019s Mr. Smith.<\/p>\n
