Green Bay Packers<\/a> pass rusher Rashan Gary<\/a> sent shockwaves through the NFL world Friday. He appeared to post a farewell message to the franchise that drafted him. For a brief moment, it looked like the veteran defensive lineman was preparing to move on from the franchise.<\/p>\n

Gary shared a heartfelt note thanking the organization and its fanbase for his time with the team. The message quickly circulated across social media after it was reposted<\/a> by ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreen Bay, when I got the call in 2019, it was one of the greatest moments of my life, and it always will be,\u201d Gary wrote<\/a>. \u201cThe opportunity to represent Green Bay and Packers Nation across the country and around the world is something I will never forget. Like all chapters in life, this one has come to an end.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank everyone who supported me and my family throughout the years. The love, the energy, and the memories mean more than words can explain. On to my next stop \u2014 nowhere near done yet. All 6\u20195\u2033, 275\u2026 can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

The message suggested<\/a> Gary believed his time with the Packers had ended, despite no official move being announced by the team. Shortly after the post gained traction, however, Gary deleted it, leaving fans and analysts wondering what exactly was happening behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

NFL Network\u2019s Tom Pelissero noted<\/a> that Gary had not been traded or released at the time of the post, adding another layer of confusion to the situation. Then came a new twist.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN\u2019s Rob Demovsky<\/a>, Gary\u2019s camp insists the post was not legitimate and that his Instagram account had been hacked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPer source, Gary has not been told he will be released or traded,\u201d Demovsky reported<\/a>. \u201cIn fact, his IG account was hacked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whether or not the situation truly stemmed from a hack, the episode immediately fueled speculation about Gary\u2019s future in Green Bay. The 2019 first-round pick remains under contract, but the financial reality surrounding the Packers could complicate matters.<\/p>\n

Gary signed a four-year, $96 million extension with the team and currently carries a cap hit of roughly $28 million for the 2026 season. Green Bay currently has limited cap flexibility, sitting around $4.3 million in available space. If the Packers were to move on from Gary through a trade or release, the team could reportedly free up approximately $10.9 million in cap space.<\/p>\n

From a production standpoint, Gary has delivered solid but not elite results since signing his extension. He recorded back-to-back seasons with 7.5 sacks, though he struggled down the stretch last year, failing to record a single sack after Week 9.<\/p>\n

For now, Gary technically remains a member of the Packers roster. But after Friday\u2019s bizarre sequence of events, questions about his long-term future in Green Bay are only getting louder.<\/p>\n
