The San Francisco 49ers were never going to let kicker Eddy Pineiro test the market. Not after what he did for them in 2025 and how he saved their special teams units.<\/p>\n
According to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, the 49ers and Pineiro reached an agreement on Saturday that will keep Pineiro around for another four years for $10 million. The extension included $10 million in guarantees for the soon-to-be 31-year-old who missed one field goal attempt last year.<\/p>\n
The deal feels like the 49ers came out like bandits. That $10 million in guarantees is only the fourth-highest in the league. If you\u2019re going by the total value of the $17 million contract, Pineiro is now the eighth-highest-paid kicker in the league. If we\u2019re going by Pineiro\u2019s per-year average, the contract makes him the 13th-highest-paid kicker in the NFL.<\/p>\n
Pineiro\u2019s history suggests he\u2019ll be consistent moving forward. He missed four kicks in each of the previous two seasons with the Panthers, but only two back in 2022.<\/p>\n
The 49ers weren\u2019t shy about moving on from Jake Moody, which might go down as one of their better decisions after the season he had two years ago and the first game of 2025.
