NFL free agency hasn’t started yet, but the Green Bay Packers<\/a> are already quite busy making moves.<\/p>\n

One day after trading for veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin<\/a>, the Packers resigned center Sean Rhyan to a three-year deal worth $33 million<\/a>, just ahead of the opening of NFL free agency.<\/p>\n

Though it appears that many Green Bay fans on social media approved of the new deal, others in Packers nation thought general manager Brian Gutekunst is overpaying Rhyan due to limited experience in the middle of the offensive line. Ryan started nine games at center when Elgton Jenkins got injured.<\/p>\n

The average annual value of the deal is significantly higher than the approximately $6.57 million per year that Sportrac projected for Ryan in free agency.<\/a> It appears the Packers will now release Jenkins for salary cap reasons.<\/p>\n

Despite having less than a full season at the position, Rhyan will become the sixth-highest paid center in the NFL if Jenkins does not return as the deal includes an $11 million signing bonus.<\/p>\n
