What the Seattle Seahawks lack in a high volume of free agents they make up for in impact. Kenneth Walker III, Riq Woolen, Rashid Shaheed, Josh Jobe, and Coby Bryant are all either starters or play enough snaps to effectively be considered a first-team player.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has emptied his notebook of NFL free agent rumors and buzz before all of the fun really begins on Monday. There are a couple of Seahawks-related tidbits in there, including interest from the Las Vegas Raiders in Rashid Shaheed, several teams eyeing Ken Walker, and Boye Mafe as a possible option for the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. The one line he has directly referencing the Seahawks is about Coby Bryant.

The Seahawks will attempt to re-sign safety Coby Bryant, one of the hotter names on the defensive side of the market. He has interest in returning to Seattle but will have other suitors.

The Seahawks have been here before when it comes to how much they really value the safety position; Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas in the Legion of Boom years, followed by Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs throughout the 2020s. Julian Love has two more years left on his current 3-year, $33 million extension signed back in 2024, which is hardly some monster contract for one of the most important pieces to Seattle’s defense.

Bryant reportedly had talks with the Seahawks before last season started but obviously nothing came to fruition. For as much as Ty Okada has emerged as a quality player in the secondary, Seattle may look to keep the trio of Love/Bryant/Okada together for at least another season. The odds of Bryant commanding top-tier dollars don’t seem particularly high, and he has comfortably settled into his role as a safety after starring in college as a cornerback.

Sunday is the last day before the “legal tampering” period of NFL free agency begins.
