TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – On Saturday morning, Florida A&M football held their first of three scrimmages of the spring on their practice field behind Bragg Memorial Stadium. It\u2019s a great chance for head coach Quinn Gray to evaluate his team in a more competitive atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Tt\u2019s still early to be talking about positional battles, but a competition at quarterback isn\u2019t off the table. Former Albany State quarterback Isaiah Knowles who followed coach Gray to FAMU knows his system well. But Gray says both Armond Parker and James Hayes have been developing well in the system.<\/p>\n
While it was a physical practice, the new head coach discussed the importance of not taking bad penalties this season, but said if the team home its aggression the right way, it could become an important identity of the 2026 Rattlers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to establish the standards that come along with being at Florida A&M University. We have to understand the pride that comes along with being at Florida A&M University,\u201d said coach Gray. \u201cThat\u2019s what we have to make sure these guys understand. Some of the things that were accepted or taken in their times here before, some of that stuff is not going to be accepted and that\u2019s just what it is. It\u2019s an accountability thing, making sure we\u2019re responsible for the things that we do. We\u2019re going to be held accountable for the things when we do step out of line. So for us, we\u2019re just making sure we\u2019re giving them the directives that they need and the structure that they need to make sure they\u2019re putting the best foot forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
