With the Miami Dolphins<\/a> making changes to their front office, coaching staff and roster over the last month or so, there’s a chance for a complete overhaul of those on the field this offseason.<\/p>\n Among the dozens of Dolphins<\/a> set to hit free agency this offseason are three tight ends – Darren Waller, Greg Dulcich<\/a> and Julian Hill. If Miami doesn’t bring the room back, they’ll need to address the position in free agency, the 2026 NFL draft or both.<\/p>\n Recently, Sports Illustrated’s Michael Fabiano connected<\/a> the Dolphins to one of the top free agent tight ends on the market, as he listed Miami as one of the five-best landing spots for David Njoku this offseason.<\/p>\n “The Dolphins’ offense will have a brand-new look next season, with a new quarterback (most reports suggest Malik Willis) at the helm. The team also needs pass catchers, as Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine were released, and Darren Waller is a free agent,” Fabiano wrote. “That opens plenty of targets in the passing attack for a player like Njoku, who would certainly become a popular target for the eventual new No. 1 quarterback.”<\/p>\n Njoku, 29, played collegiately for the Miami Hurricanes from 2014-16 before the Cleveland Browns took him in the first round (No. 29 overall) in the 2017 NFL draft. Over the last nine years, he’s appeared in 118 games and has caught 384 passes for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns.<\/p>\n Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.<\/a><\/p>\n For the last four years, Njoku’s contract averaged $11 million per year, and now, Spotrac projects<\/a> he’ll receive a two-year, $19.98 million deal in 2026 ($9.99 million annually).<\/p>\n Miami doesn’t have a ton of money, but things will change in the coming days and weeks, and at some point, they need to add a capable tight end. Njoku might just be the best option out there.<\/p>\n
