The Cleveland Browns are entering the 2025 NFL<\/a> season with hopes of taking a big step in the right direction following the dismal year they put together last year. Unfortunately, the Browns will be without star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah for the entire upcoming campaign.<\/p>\n

Owusu-Koramoah suffered a neck injury last season. He has already been ruled out for 2025 and there are serious questions about his future beyond that.<\/p>\n

After breaking out as a key leader for the Cleveland defense and a legitimate star, this is a very disappointing setback for his career and for the Browns’ future.<\/p>\n

Now, a new update has been given from a Cleveland insider that doesn’t offer a great long-term outlook for the 25-year-old linebacker.<\/p>\n

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com<\/a> has revealed more details about Owusu-Koramoah’s future. She did not sound extremely optimistic about him.<\/p>\n

“Here’s hoping that [Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah] can make a triumphant return to the field next season after spending this year rehabbing and strengthening his neck. But the truth is, we just don’t know the prognosis right now, and he might not either,” she wrote. “When dealing with a neck injury of this magnitude, so much must be considered, including the risk of re-injury and long-term ramifications. Even if JOK gets the green light from the doctors, he’ll have to think long and hard about whether or not he wants to play again.”<\/p>\n

Fans and the Browns can only hope that his recovery goes well and that he’s able to resume his career in 2026.<\/p>\n

Throughout his first four NFL<\/a> seasons, Owusu-Koramoah played in 49 total games. He racked up 308 total tackles to go along with eight sacks, six forced fumbles, three interceptions, and 17 defended passes.<\/p>\n

Cleveland made a move during the 2025 NFL<\/a> Draft that showed their concern about Owusu-Koramoah’s long-term future. With the first pick in the second round of the draft, the Browns made the decision to bring in former UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger.<\/p>\n

Instead of targeting another position of need, such as wide receiver, the front office clearly felt that it needed a potential long-term leader at the linebacker position.<\/p>\n

Only time will tell, but this update from Cabot does not deliver much optimism. Owusu-Koramoah seems to be facing an uphill battle to get back on an NFL<\/a> field.<\/p>\n
