Not only can the Chicago Bears<\/a> re-enter discussions for Maxx Crosby<\/a> after the Baltimore Ravens<\/a> made the stunning decision to void their trade for the five-time Pro Bowler on Tuesday, but the Bears then saw one of the primary competitors for Crosby\u2019s services wash its hands of what had formerly been strong interest in a deal.<\/p>\n

Dianna Russini of The Athletic, who reported on March 10 that the Ravens had pulled out of their agreement for Crosby due to a failed physical examination, came back to social media soon after with news that the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> are no longer interested.<\/p>\n

The Ravens outbid the Cowboys by offering the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> two first-round picks, including No. 14 overall in this year\u2019s draft, for the soon-to-be 29-year-old defensive end. ESPN\u2019s Jeremy Fowler reported that Dallas came with an offer of a first-round pick and a second-round selection, but refused to go higher than that.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Dallas] wasn\u2019t willing to part with two first-round picks, hoping its 12th pick in April\u2019s draft, plus a future second-rounder, would be enough to entice Las Vegas,\u201d Fowler wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys have since traded a fourth-round pick to the Green Bay Packer<\/a>s for edge-rusher Rashan Gary<\/a>, which they apparently believe is enough to meet their pass-rush needs.<\/p>\n

Given that, Chicago has the draft capital to push for the inside track should Las Vegas reopen trade talks for Crosby, which appears likely after the team spent more than $281 million<\/a> across the first two days of free agency.<\/p>\n

NFL<\/a> analysts heavily featured the Bears in the trade speculation that surrounded Crosby for weeks. However, Fowler reported that by the end of the process, Chicago was more of a fringe participant.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chicago Bears monitored the situation, but the sense was they weren\u2019t major players in the end,\u201d Fowler wrote.<\/p>\n

That could now change, and fast, given the Raiders\u2019 circumstances after operating throughout free agency as though they held the rights to the Ravens\u2019 No. 14 pick in April and didn\u2019t have to concern themselves with Crosby\u2019s salary, which Las Vegas believed was coming off its books.<\/p>\n

Crosby\u2019s agent C.J. Laboy took to social media on Tuesday to refute any claim that Crosby is not recovering properly from surgery to repair the damaged meniscus ligament in his knee.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr Neal El Attrache,\u201d Laboy wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cMaxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago may be able to buy low on Crosby given the circumstances, even despite his surgeon\u2019s testimony, which could mean an offer involving pick Nos. 25 and 60 in this year\u2019s draft might bring the Raiders to the table.<\/p>\n
