The Washington Commanders<\/a> aren’t done at edge rusher. One day after agreeing to terms<\/a> with Chargers EDGE Odafe Oweh on a four-year, $100 million contract, Washington is still looking at several pass-rushing options in free agency.<\/p>\n

One name to watch, Patriots EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.<\/p>\n

Washington should not be done with edge rushers after signing Oweh. Last year’s sack leader, Von Miller, will be 37 this year and is a free agent. Dorance Armstrong was having a career year before tearing his ACL in Week 7. He will return in 2026. Oweh immediately slots in as the Commanders<\/a>‘ top pass rusher, but, as we’ve learned over the years, you can never have too many quality edge rushers.<\/p>\n

Chaisson could be an excellent value on Day 3. A former first-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chaisson struggled there. He had only five sacks in 57 games. The Jaguars did not exercise his fifth-year option, making him a free agent and he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n

It was in Las Vegas where Chaisson turned his career around. In 15 games for the Raiders, Chaisson recorded 32 tackles, including seven for loss and five sacks, in a part-time role. The New England Patriots<\/a> targeted Chaisson in free agency, betting that his production would continue.<\/p>\n

It did. In 16 regular-season games for the Patriots, Chaisson had 31 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He recorded a pressure rate of 15.2%. He was even better in the playoffs, finishing with 12 tackles, including four for loss, three sacks, 10 quarterback hits and one forced fumble.<\/p>\n

Now, Chaisson looks to land a long-term deal. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder is still only 26 years old. Much like Oweh, Chaisson’s best two years were his last two, hinting at the best being yet to come.<\/p>\n

The Commanders need to sign another edge defender. Chaisson is a terrific option and he’s still young enough to build around for the next few seasons. He’s also not a liability against the run.<\/p>\n

If Washington can land Chaisson, alongside Oweh, that almost eliminates the possibility of a pass rusher at No. 7 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
