{"id":806132,"date":"2026-03-11T09:20:48","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T09:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/806132\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T09:20:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T09:20:48","slug":"eagles-signing-former-seahawks-pro-bowler-riq-woolen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/806132\/","title":{"rendered":"Eagles signing former Seahawks Pro Bowler Riq Woolen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Eagles are adding a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback to their secondary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Riq Woolen has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with the Eagles, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/2031496323216658774?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday<\/a>, becoming the first outside free agent to join Philadelphia this offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Woolen, 26, was one of the top corners on the open market and is coming off a season in which he had 41 tackles, 12 passes defended and an interception in 16 games for the Seahawks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Super Bowl champ spent the past four seasons in Seattle after being taken in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38738705\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-2260608382.jpg\" alt=\"Riq Woolen #27 of the Seattle Seahawks reacts to a defensive stop against the New England Patriots during the second half of the Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium on February 08, 2026 in Santa Clara, California. \" class=\"wp-image-38738705\"  \/>Riq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks reacts to a defensive stop against the New England Patriots during the second half of the Super Bowl 2026 at Levi\u2019s Stadium on February 8 in Santa Clara, California.  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>During that time, he recorded 53 passes defended, 203 tackles and 12 interceptions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His one Pro Bowl appearance came during his rookie season in 2022, when he tied the league lead in interceptions with six.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Woolen has had his fair share of ups and downs during his NFL career, which included being benched during the 2023 and \u201924 seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The benching during the latter campaign was related to a team rule violation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/10\/sports\/nfl-free-agency-live-updates-signings-rumors-trades-and-news-from-day-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Follow The Post\u2019s live updates of all the signings, rumors and deals from NFL free agency.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Woolen made some mistakes during the 2025 season, and in the first game of the year against the 49ers, he misplayed two throws during San Francisco\u2019s game-winning drive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He did turn things around, and in the final 12 weeks of the season, he logged a 57.2 passer rating against, which ranked sixth in the NFL.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Woolen only played two full seasons at cornerback during his college career at the University of Texas at San Antonio after starting there as a wide receiver.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38738703\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/MT1USATODAY28212312-1666992280-3.jpg\" alt=\"Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen (27) before the Super Bowl LX trophy presentation at Lumen Field. \" class=\"wp-image-38738703\"  \/>Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen (27) before the Super Bowl LX trophy presentation at Lumen Field.
