He\u2019ll be on the same roster with another former Eagles depth quarterback in Will Grier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Eagles felt the need to add Howell ahead of the 2025 season when QB2 Tanner McKee was dealing with an injury. He began the regular season as Jalen Hurts\u2019 primary backup until McKee eventually got healthy. With McKee having one year left on his rookie deal, there was no need for Philadelphia to try and keep Howell this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s not necessarily ideal that Howell will be going to the Eagle\u2019s division rival.
