{"id":806755,"date":"2026-03-11T17:26:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T17:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/806755\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T17:26:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T17:26:25","slug":"daniel-jones-reacts-to-new-88m-colts-contract-on-video-talks-achilles-injury-rehab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/806755\/","title":{"rendered":"Daniel Jones Reacts to New $88M Colts Contract on Video, Talks Achilles Injury Rehab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Daniel Jones are finalizing a two-year agreement worth $88 million to keep him in town, per NFL Network&#8217;s <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/colts-qb-daniel-jones-finalizing-two-year-88-million-deal?campaign=Twitter_atn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">After the news broke, Jones went on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss a few topics, including his excitement following the new deal as well as his progress in rehab from a torn right Achilles tendon suffered on Dec. 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">The Colts used the transition tag on Jones on March 3, per ESPN&#8217;s <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/48091610\/colts-place-rarely-used-transition-tag-qb-daniel-jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Stephen Holder<\/a>, but that&#8217;s a moot point now with his new deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Jones signed a one-year, $14 million <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/player\/daniel-jones\/7797#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">contract<\/a> with the Colts last offseason. He won the QB1 job over Anthony Richardson and got the Colts off to a hot 7-1 start.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Indianapolis then split a pair of games before losing seven straight to end the season. Jones suffered the Achilles injury on Dec. 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and missed his team&#8217;s final four-plus contests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Thankfully, it appears all is going well with his rehab. The Colts would obviously love to see him return to his 2025 form, which included a 68.0 percent completion rate for 3,101 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), 24 total touchdowns (five rushing) and eight interceptions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Indianapolis looked like a potential AFC winner and Super Bowl contender in the first half of the season with Jones leading the way, so it&#8217;s no surprise the team wanted him back.
