He stayed around East Rutherford to rehab after surgery. <\/p>\n<p>That gave the Giants insight into his recovery, while other linebacker-needy teams who haven\u2019t seen him on the field since Week 1 would have to guess with blind faith.<\/p>\n<p>Mutual interest in a reunion came to fruition Wednesday when McFadden <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/10\/sports\/giants-re-sign-micah-mcfadden-after-lost-injury-season\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract <\/a>that maxes out at $5.5 million, according to sources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThem seeing me recover and get back to where I was by the end of the season, I think that answered a lot of the questions that they had,\u201d McFadden said, \u201cso that kind of narrowed down some of the options by the end of it. It\u2019s a huge factor in all this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McFadden said he is \u201cdoing great\u201d and doesn\u2019t expect to have any \u201climitations\u201d when spring workouts begin April 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve improved a lot even since the end of the year,\u201d McFadden said. \u201cGetting back to a place where I was able to go back home and kind of start my normal offseason program \u2014 working out and running and doing everything I need to do to play football this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38752162\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/practices-teams-nfl-football-training-123325773.jpg\" alt=\"New York Giants linebacker Micah McFadden (41) in practice.\" class=\"wp-image-38752162\"  \/>Giants linebacker Micah McFadden re-signed with the Giants. AP<\/p>\n<p>McFadden will return to a different linebacker corps than the one he started 35 games in since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Giants cut his three-year running mate Bobby Okereke and replaced him with free agent addition Tremaine Edmunds (three years, $36 million).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Pencil in McFadden as a starter for now, though he could be challenged by internal favorite Darius Muasau or lose the job to potential first-round pick Sonny Styles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously it will be a competitive room,\u201d McFadden said. \u201cI think they will continue to bring guys in, and that\u2019s no surprise: It\u2019s the NFL. My thing is I\u2019m going to go out there, compete and go and try and win a starting job, and go put my best foot forward \u2026 and we\u2019ll see where it falls after that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Giants have lost four other members of McFadden\u2019s 2022 draft class during free agency, but the new John Harbaugh-led coaching staff identified potential in his pre-injury film. <\/p>\n<p>He received word last weekend that there was interest in re-signing him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means a lot,\u201d McFadden said. \u201cI think it was a phenomenal hire. I got to speak with the coaches and John this morning. I\u2019m really excited to be a part. I think they have a great thing going that they have been building around here.
