Anything can happen in the NFL, apparently, but it doesn’t seem like the Dallas Cowboys will revisit a trade for Maxx Crosby after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their blockbuster deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. <\/p>\n
While the Cowboys traded for Rashan Gary <\/a>on Monday, they shouldn’t be content with their edge room. After all, they were close to landing Crosby less than a week ago, and Gary, while a good player, isn’t Crosby. <\/p>\n Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard is on the trade block<\/a>, and reports claim Minnesota is only seeking a Day 2 pick in return. It’s unclear if they made a competitive offer like Dallas, but their interest was real. They also made a strong push to re-sign Jaelan Phillips before the Carolina Panthers shockingly gave him $30 million a year. General manager Howie Roseman wants a pass rusher, and Greenard is in his crosshairs. <\/p>\n That normally doesn’t end well for Cowboys fans. However, this one would really sting, as Dallas needs another edge. <\/p>\n While Gary was a nice pickup, 2025 second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku is expected to be out until training camp after labrum surgery. Even with Gary, the edge room is thin. <\/p>\n With Ezeiruaku on the shelf, the depth chart now consists of Gary, Sam Williams, who re-signed on a one-year deal, and James Houston. That’s it. Williams and Houston are fine depth pieces, but it goes without saying they should not be playing big-time snaps for a team that intends to be competitive. <\/p>\n With Crosby potentially remaining in Las Vegas and the free-agent market all dried up, Greenard is the best available edge. <\/p>\n In 2024, Greenard ranked third among edge defenders with 80 pressures, and despite his 2025 season ending prematurely due to shoulder surgery, he finished No. 7 in the NFL with a 13.5 percent pressure rate, per Kevin Seifert of ESPN<\/a>. <\/p>\n That is not a player you want joining an already-stacked Eagles roster, which added cornerback Riq Woolen on Tuesday, by the way. <\/p>\n The opposite of ideal. <\/p>\n
