The Minnesota Vikings are getting ready to host their top quarterback target<\/a>, Kyler Murray, who was released Wednesday by the Arizona Cardinals.<\/p>\n Before his visit, Murray has reportedly been meeting<\/a> virtually with other teams who have interest in him, not necessarily for 2026, but for 2027. Of course, the only team he set up an in-person meeting with, immediately after hitting free agency, was the Vikings.<\/p>\n Kyler Murray expected to sign with Minnesota Vikings during visit<\/p>\n So when we SKOL nation woke up Thursday, it felt pretty good about the 28-year-old former No. 1 overall draft pick<\/a> eventually signing with their favorite football team. Then this morning, Adam Schefter<\/a> got on ESPN\u2019s Get Up<\/a> and made it all but official.<\/p>\n Unless something goes horribly wrong today out in Eagan, reports Schefty, Murray is expected to leave TCO Performance Center with a newly signed one-year $1.3 million contract in-hand to be the 2026 Minnesota Vikings quarterback.<\/p>\n After his visit today, Kyler Murray is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings, per @AdamSchefter<\/a> <\/p>\n “I would imagine they’ll go through that visit today, and would imagine we’ll hear about a Kyler Murray deal later today.” (via @GetUpESPN<\/a>) pic.twitter.com\/0Vt2BvKG55<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Minnesota Sports Fan (@realmnsportsfan) March 12, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s expected to sign a one-year deal. We presume it will be with Minnesota. It\u2019ll be a one year deal so he can be a free agent after this season\u2026 If and when he does sign with Minnesota, as we would think, then at that point in time, he\u2019ll look to have a good year, play well and put himself [back] into the free agency market\u2026 I would imagine they\u2019ll go through that visit today, and would imagine we\u2019ll hear about a Kyler Murray deal later today.\u201d<\/p>\n Adam Schefter \u2013 Get Up (ESPN)<\/p>\n The success of next season will depend on KOC and his QB-friendly staff extracting as much of Kyler\u2019s immense raw QB talent as humanly possible. However, should they make Murray into a 2026 version of Sam Darnold, it\u2019s difficult to see the Vikings letting him walk like they did with the now Super Bowl winner.<\/p>\n Kyler Murray could be Sam Darnold 2.0 in Minnesota<\/p>\n And unlike Darnold, Murray has already been there, done that in the league<\/a>. He\u2019s a 2x Pro Bowler and 2019 offensive rookie of the year. But the Minnesota Vikings are hoping to bring the stuff we saw out of Kyler in games like week 2 (2024) vs the Rams.<\/p>\n Throughout that 41-10 Cardinals victory<\/a>, Kyler was throwing dimes all over the field \u2014 eventually totalling 266 yards (81.0%) 3 touchdowns and a perfect 158.3 QB rating.
