Sorry, Indianapolis Colts fans. Your team has the least valuable collection of picks for the upcoming NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Even after receiving a pair of compensatory picks earlier this week<\/a>, the value of Indianapolis\u2019 selections is the lowest in the league when one factors in both total value and average value of the picks.<\/p>\n

If the Colts wind up with a strong draft class<\/a>, they\u2019ll earn it. They\u2019ll spend the three days drafting from a position of weakness.<\/p>\n

How do the Indianapolis Colts’ draft picks measure up?<\/p>\n

To evaluate the value of the 32 NFL teams\u2019 draft picks, we assigned a point value to each selection. The No. 1 pick was worth 257 points, the No. 2 pick was worth 256 points, the No. 3 pick was worth 255 points, and so on all the way down to the 257th and last pick, which was worth one point.<\/p>\n

We added up the points assigned to each team\u2019s draft picks to determine the \u201ctotal value\u201d of the draft class for all 32 teams. We then divided the \u201ctotal value\u201d by each team\u2019s number of picks to determine the \u201caverage value\u201d of the draft picks for all 32 teams. <\/p>\n

Finally, we added up the \u201ctotal value\u201d and \u201caverage value\u201d rankings for a final overall value ranking to determine which teams have the most valuable and least valuable collection of picks.<\/p>\n

Colts #30 in total value<\/p>\n

Indianapolis\u2019s picks added up to a score of 679 in our \u201ctotal value\u201d formula. That\u2019s 30th in the NFL, better than only the Seattle Seahawks (31st place with 627 \u201ctotal value\u201d points) and the Atlanta Falcons (last with 621 \u201ctotal value\u201d points).<\/p>\n

The Las Vegas Raiders (1,606 points) lead the \u201ctotal value\u201d rankings \u2013 as they should, as the owners of the No. 1 pick. The New York Jets (1,459 points) ranked second. The Pittsburgh Steelers (1,454 points) are third.<\/p>\n

Indy is next-to-last in average value<\/p>\n

The Colts\u2019 picks carry an \u201caverage value\u201d of 97 points \u2013 meaning the average Indianapolis pick is the equivalent of the No. 175 pick, which is the end of the fifth round. That \u201caverage value\u201d ranks No. 31 in the league. Only the Baltimore Ravens are worse, and just by a fraction (96.3).<\/p>\n

The Tennessee Titans\u2019 picks have the best \u201caverage value\u201d<\/a> in the league at 161, meaning the typical Tennessee pick is the equivalent of a late third-rounder. The Los Angeles Chargers (161) are second in the \u201caverage value\u201d rankings. Seattle, which is getting plenty of bang for the buck in its four picks, is third.<\/p>\n

It adds up to last place in overall value<\/p>\n

Combine the \u201ctotal value\u201d and \u201caverage value\u201d rankings, and Indianapolis comes in dead last in the overall value ranking with the least valuable collection of picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. <\/p>\n

One possible consolation for Colts fans: The team seems to be in good company, joining a couple of perennial playoff teams in the bottom three. The Los Angeles Rams (No. 29 in total value and No. 30 in average value) are next-to-last. The Green Bay Packers (No. 28 in total value and No. 29 in average value) round out the bottom three.<\/p>\n

Las Vegas (No. 1 in total value, No. 8 in average value) is No. 1 in the overall value rankings. Kansas City (No. 4 in total value, No. 6 in average value) is second, followed by the Cleveland Browns (No. 5 total value, No. 7 average value) in third.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sorry, Indianapolis Colts fans.
