Rumours began to swirl that the New Orleans Saints could sign Rodgers to replace Carr<\/a>, who stepped aside from football, citing ongoing injuries that would have jeopardized the Saints’ upcoming campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 30-year-old’s retirement frees up $30 million on the Saints’ payroll, which would open the door to an expensive quarterback, like Rodgers.<\/p>\n CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin urged the Saints to pick up Aaron Rodgers<\/a> as he claimed the 41-year-old would thrive in the NFC South.<\/p>\n “Here’s the greatest rub, for both Rodgers and the Saints: Unlike the Steelers, the Saints do not play in the AFC North, which includes a pair of justified Super Bowl aspirants in the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>,” Benjamin wrote.<\/p>\n “They play in the NFC South, which over the last three seasons has crowned a champion with these final records: 8-9, 9-8, 10-7.”<\/p>\n Despite Benjamin’s best efforts to frame the Saints as an attractive destination for Rodgers, the former New York Jets<\/a> star thinks otherwise.<\/p>\n At a recent Q&A session at a Mike Stud concert in Austin, Texas, the four-time MVP quarterback shut down a fan’s question about playing for in New Orleans.<\/p>\n “No,” Rodgers said to groans in the crowd. <\/p>\n “That’s the answer. I’ve played there a couple of times, but no. I’m too old. I don’t want to live in Louisiana. Sorry.”<\/p>\n Despite ruling out the possibility of playing in New Orleans, when asked about joining the Chicago Bears<\/a>, Rodgers decided to drop a cryptic hint.<\/p>\n 3<\/p>\n Carr’s retirement means the Saints could look to RodgersCredit: Getty 3<\/p>\n Many expect Rodgers to sign for the SteelersCredit: Getty<\/p>\n “No, but I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,” Rodgers said. <\/p>\n “I don’t know, not sure.
