The Niners are set to receive a $20.6 million adjustment for 2026, thanks to insurance policies taken out in the event of injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">We will see the difference reflected in the salary cap and the 49ers\u2019 cash spending. It\u2019s not uncommon for this to happen. It became a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/41274295\/nfl-insurance-policies-star-players-aaron-rodgers-tua-tagovailoa-jared-goff-joe-burrow-christian-mccaffrey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">big news story<\/a> in September 2024 when the Jets failed to have an insurance addendum in Aaron Rodgers\u2019 contract. By not buying an insurance policy for Rodgers, the Jets missed out on an opportunity to recoup up to $22 million in insurance proceeds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">It\u2019s not as easy to figure out which specific players have policies and for how much. However, we know the team will receive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ninersnation.com\/san-francisco-49ers-news\/150654\/the-49ers-will-receive-some-salary-cap-relief-thanks-to-an-insurance-policy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">roughly $7 million<\/a> in cap relief from Nick Bosa\u2019s insurance policy, as reported in September 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Since the number is over $20 million, the logical conclusion is that the 49ers have policies for their other star players who missed a significant chunk of the season, including Fred Warner and Brock Purdy, and perhaps even George Kittle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">If those numbers become public, we will provide an update.
