He entered the day with a $2 million guarantee in his deal already, and now the rest of it is definitively headed his way too.<\/p>\n
Barmore\u2019s salary cap outlook for the 2026 season is not impacted. He still counts $17.1 million against New England\u2019s cap, the fourth-highest such number on the team.<\/p>\n
Barmore, 26, joined the Patriots as a second-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. A disruptive presence along the team\u2019s interior defensive line right out the gate, he signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the organization in April 2024. However, he was diagnosed with blood clots just three months later and missed a majority of that season due to the medical issue.<\/p>\n
Barmore returned to the field in 2025 and picked up where he left off. Seeing action in all 21 of his team\u2019s combined regular season and playoff contests, he led his position group with 844 defensive snaps and ranked third on the team with 58 quarterback pressures.<\/p>\n
While his performance alone would have justified exercising the guarantee, his legal situation put a question mark on his outlook. With prosecutors officially dropping charges, the road was open for the Patriots to follow through with the guarantee.<\/p>\n
