Washington\u2019s offensive line played well in 2025, but there have been a number of changes. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury \u201cparted ways\u201d and offensive line coach Bobby Johnson was shown the door a bit less graciously. The team promoted the new OL coach from the existing ranks of coaches.<\/p>\n
When it comes to the OL players, an early surprise for fans was the Commanders cutting starting center Tyler Biadasz. The team has not yet made any obvious move to replace him in free agency, though the front office did extend the contract of Nick Allegretti, last year\u2019s backup at the position who started Week 18 when Biadasz was injured. Allegretti, for the time being at least, is the apparent starter at the position.<\/p>\n
The team also extended Laremy Tunsil, making him the highest-paid (in terms of yearly average) NFL lineman in league history, and recently re-signed a backup OT, Trent Scott on a one-year deal.<\/p>\n
The question mark has been at left guard, where last year\u2019s presumed starter, Brandon Coleman, was beaten out by 4th year guard, Chris Paul, who reached the end of his rookie contract at the end of the \u201825 season.<\/p>\n
Paul and Coleman should have the opportunity to reengage last year\u2019s battle for the starting position.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no report yet on the value of Paul\u2019s deal, but he has had the entire week to secure a lucrative contract from any of the 32 teams. The fact that he is returning to Washington with a late-Friday report is a strong indication that he didn\u2019t find the market he was hoping for.
