The Tennessee Titans<\/a> have released a new logo and uniform, and the former Houston Oilers continue to behave like an ex who just can\u2019t move on.<\/p>\n

The release was announced Thursday night. The Titans appear to have ditched navy blue and silver entirely from their color scheme, opting instead for a \u201cLuv Ya Blue\u201d primary uniform with white numbers and red accents.<\/p>\n

In a press release, Titans officials said the new look would \u201cpay homage\u201d to the Oilers and the team\u2019s \u201cnearly 30-year history in Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n

A quick \u201cCommand + F\u201d on the presser revealed no mention of the particular city where the Oilers actually established the history the Titans now seem so eager to incorporate into their identity. <\/p>\n

For anyone who watched NFL football between 1960 and 1996, the new uniforms probably looked\u2026 oddly familiar.<\/p>\n

Facebook Reactions<\/p>\n

Even Titans fans couldn\u2019t help but point out the rollout\u2019s striking resemblance to the Houston Oilers\u2019 iconic jerseys.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the Facebook comments on the Titans\u2019 uniform rollout posts:<\/p>\n

Elliott Green<\/a>: \u201cNothing \u2018Titans\u2019 about this. More like Temu Oilers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josh Parnell<\/a>: \u201cThis would be great if I was an OILERS fan!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruben Dominguez<\/a>: \u201cAll the old Oilers fans saying we\u2019re living in the past. Oilers throwbacks we\u2019re cool. But there\u2019s nothing Titans about this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin McLaughlin Leon<\/a> \u201cLooks like the Oilers. Branding certainly got real creative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kevin Perry<\/a> \u201cThese are [expletive] Oilers colors. You\u2019re in Tennessee now, act like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comparisons were especially jarring given the Titans\u2019 complicated relationship with the city of Houston.<\/p>\n

The Oilers didn\u2019t exactly leave H-Town on the best of terms. Team owner Bud Adams unceremoniously moved the franchise to Tennessee after his long-running struggle with city officials over a new stadium ultimately fell apart.<\/p>\n

Since the Houston Texans\u2019 inaugural season in 2002, the teams have shared the AFC South division, creating what has become the division\u2019s most bitter rivalry.<\/p>\n

Along with the new jerseys, the Titans also unveiled a new logo. Following the broader color scheme change, the updated logo goes full red, white, and \u201cLuv Ya Blue.\u201d The design also eliminates the flames from the old Titans mark in favor of a more minimalist look.<\/p>\n

The logo appeared to draw slightly more positive reactions than the uniforms, but many fans still raised concerns that the new \u201cT\u201d strongly resembles the Tesla logo.<\/p>\n

That comparison may be especially awkward considering the Titans currently play at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.<\/p>\n

Bob McNair was an Oilers fan. He had season tickets to Oilers games for decades. Bud Adams got commissioner Paul Tagliabue to give him in writing that no team other than the Oilers, who would become the Titans in 1999, would ever be able to use the Oilers name or colors. Ever!<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time the Titans have seemingly tried to tap into their former identity in recent years.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the team reintroduced its Oilers throwback uniforms \u2014 a nearly identical recreation of the franchise\u2019s iconic Houston look. The move sparked debate across the league.<\/p>\n

The Titans proceeded to wear the throwbacks in their home games against the Texans in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons \u2014 because, of course they did.<\/p>\n

The Texans won both games, 19\u201316 and 23\u201314.<\/p>\n

After going 1-2 in the Oilers uniforms across three appearances over two seasons, the Titans chose not to bring them back in 2025.<\/p>\n
