The Chicago Bears<\/a> were reportedly in the mix for a five-time Pro Bowler earlier this offseason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to a report from ESPN\u2019s Courtney Cronin<\/a>, the Bears had some dialogue about the Las Vegas standout Defensive end.<\/p>\n

\u201cRyan Poles (Bears general manager) confirms that the Bears were interested in trading for Maxx Crosby (who was nearly traded to the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>),\u201d Cronin stated Thursday. “We were involved. We checked into it. We looked to see if it made sense. Had some dialogue. I’ll leave it at that.”<\/p>\n

Like the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>, another franchise recently linked to Crosby, the Bears recorded only 35 sacks last season. Needless to say, that isn\u2019t going to get the job done year after year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Crosby, known for being frequently double-teamed due to his ability to win one-on-one battles, totaled at least 10 sacks for the fourth time in seven seasons, which explains why he generated interest from Chicago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, according to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, <\/a>the Bears are in a position to acquire Crosby financially.<\/p>\n

The Bears don’t have any more money right now, Greeny,\u201d Schefter said Friday. \u201cThey’re broke. They’re out of money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, Pro Football Talk\u2019s Mike Florio <\/a>reported that a league source informed him the Raiders<\/a> are telling teams that they won\u2019t trade Crosby following his unsuccessful Ravens deal, officially pouring cold water on a potential Bears trade for a well-respected veteran.<\/p>\n
