The Denver Broncos<\/a> are the only team in the league that hasn’t signed a player from outside the organization in free agency so far this year. Some fans inside Broncos Country are seeing that as the front office being stubborn, while others are appreciating the approach of winning with continuity.<\/p>\n

Still, many experts feel the team needs to bring in more offensive firepower, as that was what ultimately cost the team this past season.<\/p>\n

With many of the top options already finding new homes, the pickings are slim. Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports<\/a> has identified the Broncos as the best landing spot for free-agent wide receiver Deebo Samuel. JHere was his analysis on the subject:<\/p>\n

“The\u00a0Denver Broncos\u00a0are the only team in the NFL to have not agreed to terms with a free agent outside of their own building this offseason. Many have tried to hypothetically pair\u00a0Deebo Samuel and Sean\u00a0Payton for years. Now, he’s actually available.<\/p>\n

Payton has often talked about his “Joker” position — which is a player that can line up anywhere and everywhere on offense, and affect the game in different ways. That’s\u00a0Samuel. Samuel was the\u00a0Washington Commanders<\/a>\u00a0‘ leading receiver last season with\u00a0Terry McLaurin ‘s\u00a0<\/a>health struggles, as he caught 72 passes for 727 yards and five touchdowns, and added 75 rushing yards and another score. Those 75 rushing yards marked a career low for\u00a0Samuel in seasons where he played at least eight games. He would easily clear that total if\u00a0Payton got his hands on him.<\/p>\n

The Broncos need to add some weaponry if they want to take advantage of this\u00a0Super Bowl\u00a0window. They have a quarterback on a rookie deal and an elite defense.\u00a0Samuel makes sense in Denver.”<\/p>\n

Samuel does make sense in Denver and he’s also one of the best names still available. He would give Payton a new toy to tinker with one offense and could add a new element to not only the passing game, but the running game as well.<\/p>\n

Signing Samuel wouldn’t bring the celebration that trading for A.J. Brown would or signing a guy like Kenneth Walker would have, but he’s an experienced option with over 400 receptions and over 5,500 yards in his career who has been selected as an All-Pro and Pro-Bowl player.<\/p>\n

It would be unbelievable if the Broncos didn’t sign a single outside free agent this offseason. The team still has options to consider to greatly improve the offense, and room under the salary cap to do so. Signing a player like Samuel would be a good move at this stage.<\/p>\n
