After letting a majority of their secondary walk in free agency, the Chicago Bears bring back a core special teams player and depth piece, Jaylon Jones. It is a one-year deal<\/a> for Jones, who will be returning for his fifth season with the team. He initially joined the team in 2022 as an undrafted free agent.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jones has seen some action at cornerback over the last four seasons, but has primarily contributed on special teams. Jones is a key member of this team and a sound tackler. Since 2022, he has recorded 101 tackles with only seven missed tackles according to Pro Football Reference<\/a>. His coverage skills leave a lot to be desired, but for now, coach Richard Hightower retains a key player as they head into the 2026 season.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The 2025 special teams unit, under Hightower, improved throughout the season and became a relatively strong unit by the end of the season. The Bears have made retaining their core of special teamers a priority with the re-signings of Daniel Hardy, D\u2019Marco Jackson<\/a>, and Elijah Hicks<\/a>.
