The San Francisco 49ers<\/a> were set to enter the offseason with all three members of their kicking battery from the 2025 season hitting free agency. However, after re-signing long snapper Jon Weeks<\/a> and kicker Eddy Pineiro<\/a>, they just needed to figure out their punting situation.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the 49ers<\/a> did just that, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported<\/a> that the team signed Corliss Waitman to replace Thomas Morstead.<\/p>\n

Waitman, 30, played at South Alabama from 2014-18 before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He’s had three stints with the Steelers, including from 2024-25. He’s also had stops with the Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n

In his career, he’s appeared in 52 games and punted the pass 230 times, averaging 46.4 yards and 41.7 net yards per boot. He’s put 36.5% of his punts inside the 20-yard line.<\/p>\n
