Over the past few seasons, they have allowed veteran pass catchers to leave while drafting younger wide receivers to replace them. Just recently, they traded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicitysports.com\/buffalo-bills-dj-moore-is-ready-to-work-with-josh-allen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DJ Moore<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/buf\/buffalo-bills\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Buffalo Bills<\/a> for center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicitysports.com\/chicago-bears-center-garrett-bradbury-wants-to-help\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garrett Bradbury<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With Moore gone, the Bears\u2019 top wide receiver duo from 2023, the year they acquired him in a trade, are both playing elsewhere. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Mooney has signed with the Giants in free agency:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Free agent wide receiver Darnell Mooney plans to sign with the Giants, per source.<\/p>\n<p>More speed on the way for Jaxson Dart.<\/p>\n<p>New York and agents <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aj__stevens?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@aj__stevens<\/a> and David Mulugheta of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AthletesFirst?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@AthletesFirst<\/a> reached deal today. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TySIQ99pMZ\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/TySIQ99pMZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JFowlerESPN\/status\/2032936358394708404?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 14, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>By signing with the Giants, Mooney reunites with former Bears head coach Matt Nagy, who was hired as New York\u2019s offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>In four seasons with the Bears, Mooney had 213 receptions for 2,593 yards and 11 touchdowns. His best season came in 2021 when he had 81 receptions for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>After his rookie contract with Chicago was up, Mooney signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons. His best season with them came in 2024, his first year with the team. That season, he had 64 receptions for 992 yards and a career-high five touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears originally selected Mooney in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 174th overall pick.
