Such is the case with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/an-exercise-exorcisms-seahawks-super-bowl-champs-again-digital-cover\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks<\/a>, who had several important decisions to make in terms of keeping veterans whose contracts would expire. Two of those player were a four-year running back and a speedy offensive and special team threat who the team acquired via trade during the season.<\/p>\n<p>Seahawks\u2019 GM John Schneider has had several key decisions to make<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/01kks38vag0ybzphpzh7.jpg\" alt=\"Goodell and Walker\" title=\"Goodell and Walker\" width=\"7164\" height=\"4029\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"71\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Feb 9, 2026; San Francisco, CA, USA; NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (left) presents Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III with the MVP trophy during the Super Bowl LX winning head coach and most valuable player press conference at Moscone Center. Two of their biggest postseason stars\u2014running back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/seahawks\/onsi\/seahawks-news\/kenneth-walker-unhappy-with-workload-seahawks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kenneth Walker III <\/a>and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed\u2014were set to become free agents. GM John Schneider said he wanted the Super Bowl MVP back, but Seattle ultimately decided to invest in Shaheed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/chiefs\/onsi\/grading-kansas-city-signing-of-kenneth-walker-iii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">while Walker hit the market,<\/a> ultimately signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"78\">Walker ran 27 times for 135 yards, plus caught two passes for 26 yards, in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/an-exercise-exorcisms-seahawks-super-bowl-champs-again-digital-cover\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Seattle\u2019s 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots <\/a>in Santa Clara. In 2025, he started all 17 games and finished with a career-best 1,309 yards from scrimmage, plus scored five touchdowns. He added 417 scrimmage yards and four TDs during Seattle\u2019s three-game postseason run. Still, Schneider opted to go with the speedy wideout who came up with numerous big plays after arriving from New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p>WR\/KR Rashid Shaheed\u2019s explosiveness was hard to ignore<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rashid Shaheed is staying in Seattle \ud83d\udcaa <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Seahawks?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@Seahawks<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LkrovJviXM\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/LkrovJviXM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NFL (@NFL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFL\/status\/2031135660401373379?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 9, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7h\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/seahawks\/onsi\/seahawks-news\/instant-grade-seahawks-agree-terms-wr-rashid-shaheed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Shaheed landed a three-year, $51 million contract<\/a>,\u201d explained Ross, \u201cafter joining Seattle via trade midway through the season and showing out during the run to the \u2018Hawks\u2019 second Lombardi Trophy. Seattle clearly prioritized Shaheed\u2019s explosive skillset as a receiver and returner, illustrating his value as a playmaker in two phases of the game. I loved the midseason acquisition last year, and I love this move by Schneider and Co.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7k\">Now the Seahawks look to replace the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/teams\/sea\/career-rushing.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">franchise\u2019s eighth-leading ground gainer<\/a> (3,555 yards), who ranks fifth in team history with 29 rushing touchdowns. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7n\">\u201cOf course,\u201d added Ross, \u201cWalker\u2019s exit left a hole in the RB room, where presumptive RB1 Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a January ACL tear. Many of the starting-caliber free agents on the market have already committed elsewhere. Signing former Packer Emanuel Wilson is a step in the right direction.
