Cops have released video of the moments leading up to former NFL star Doug Martin\u2019s arrest \u2014 before he died in police custody<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police responded to a home break-in in Oakland Hills<\/a> in October. Body-camera and surveillance footage were later released by the police department to NBC Bay Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the clip, the former Raiders star was seen yelling and then walking through a fence at a home when the officers arrived.<\/p>\n

They tried to arrest him, but Martin was yelling, screaming and resisting arrest. He was also seen running in the backyard of the home and breaking a window.<\/p>\n

In what appears to be a home gym room, Martin was handcuffed and shortly afterward became unresponsive. Paramedics later could not revive him and pronounced him dead.<\/p>\n

The family had called 911 after they believed the football player was experiencing a mental health episode<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The video shows Martin breaking through a fence and running into a backyard of a home in Oakland Hills. Oakland PD<\/p>\n

Martin played six seasons with the Buccaneers and one season with the Oakland Raiders.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoug\u2019s parents were actively seeking medical assistance for him and contacted local authorities for support.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeeling overwhelmed and disoriented, Doug fled his home during the night and entered a neighbor\u2019s residence two doors down, where he was taken into custody by police.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn investigation into what transpired as he was detained is underway,\u201d Martin\u2019s agent, Brian Murphy, said in a statement released after his death.<\/p>\n
