Cornerback Sauce Gardner has identified a pass rusher that he wouldn’t mind seeing the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> acquire.<\/p>\n

In response to a highlight video of Vikings’ defensive end Jonathan Greenerd, Gardner jokingly posted on X, “love a good pass rush.. is it time to open my basement back up.”<\/p>\n

This is a reference to a comment Gardner made about Alec Pierce<\/a> before he re-signed with the Colts<\/a>, joking that he should keep Pierce in his basement until he signs his new deal with Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

It was reported last week by ESPN that the Vikings are open to trading<\/a> Greenard for the right price.<\/p>\n

Greenard, 28, has spent the last two seasons with the Vikings after playing his first four seasons with Houston. In 2024, he put together a career year and was one of the more disruptive pass rushers in football, totaling 84 quarterback pressures. Greenard made his first Pro Bowl that year as well.<\/p>\n

This past season, Greenard appeared in just 12 games<\/a>. He recorded 47 pressures, but still ranked 15th among his position group in PFF’s<\/a> pass rush win rate metric, illustrating his ability to win his matchups consistently.<\/p>\n

The Colts have bolstered their defensive end depth, signing Arden Key and Micheal Clemons in free agency, but the team still needs to find that high-impact presence to pair with Laiatu Latu.<\/p>\n

Greenard is still under contract for the next two seasons. He is set to earn a base salary of $18.39 million<\/a> in each of the next two seasons.<\/p>\n

For what it’s worth, the Colts do have salary cap space<\/a> to work with this offseason, but without a first-round selection this year or next, they are potentially short on draft capital when it comes to trading for Greenard.<\/p>\n
