It appears it was possible for them to unite under Mike McCarthy once more with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report by Pro Football Talk\u2019s Mike Florio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPer a league source, the Rams \u2014 while talking about a possible trade for (A.J.) Brown \u2014 were pursuing the possibility of trading Adams,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/as-rams-considered-trading-for-a-j-brown-they-explored-trading-davante-adams\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Florio wrote<\/a> Sunday. \u201cThe Rams presumably were hoping to get a deal done by today, when a fully-guaranteed $6 million roster bonus came due. And the payment of the bonus likely means they\u2019ll keep Adams and his $18 million base salary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is no indication that Omar Khan and the Steelers were interested in swapping for Adams, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nfl\/ask\/davante-adams-career-stats-with-aaron-rodgers\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">according to Statmuse<\/a> has reeled in 689 passes from Rodgers during his career, picking up 8,444 yards and scoring 76 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"788\" height=\"515\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/10-20-2024-Steelers-v-Jets-16525.jpg\" alt=\"Pittsburgh Steelers New York Jets Davante Adams\" class=\"wp-image-88185\"  \/>New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 20, 2024. \u2014 Ed Thompson \/ Steelers Now<\/p>\n<p>Adams led the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions last season after signing a two-year, $44 million deal with the Rams last offseason. The Steelers acquired DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks on the same day. <\/p>\n<p>Adams\u2019 cap hit for next fall would\u2019ve been $4 million more than what Spotrac estimates Michael Pittman Jr.\u2019s will be ($24 million). After acquiring Pittman from the Indianapolis Colts, it would\u2019ve been nearly impossible for Khan to justify investing so much in receivers.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy drafted Adams in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The Fresno State product grew into Rodgers\u2019 preferred target over the next eight seasons, then was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022.
